MISSION
HISTORY
As the owner of Inspire, I thought I would share my personal yoga experience as well as my vision for my program. My yoga practice began in Chicago 10 years ago practicing in a gym setting. As an ex-collegiate athlete, I remember loving the incredible strength and flexibility I gained by practicing. Also, as someone who has struggled with maintaining commitment and focus in my personal life, yoga provided me with an outlet where I could see the benefits of commitment and learn to focus and "breathe" through the struggles in life such as a personal bout with depression. I have been interested in philosophy and religion for many years, and I love learning practical methods for maintaining and growing my spirituality. Yoga is a crucial practice for me to maintain my health and happiness, rejuvenate myself when life gets tough as well as explore life through cultural learning, travel and meeting yoga students from around the world. Yoga helps me to recognize the universal qualities and goodness in all living beings as well as appreciate cultural differences. The yoga system of Anusara created by John Friend, beautifully showcases these qualities, and I have been practicing with the top Anusara teachers for 4 years and earned my Anusara-inspired status 2 years ago.
Inspire Yoga was born with the original name of Yoga48 providing private yoga instruction to students in their homes. After practicing and teaching in many different yoga venues, I envisioned creating a studio space in Sheboygan that was inspired by the serenity of nature, soft, soothing colors, and is a welcoming atmosphere to all students, creative expressions and a space to offer a practical ways to improve and maintain personal and interpersonal health and wellness.
After a year of traveling to students at their homes and businesses, and a failed business venture, I discovered a studio space above Rudnick Jewelers, right in the heart of downtown Sheboygan and had been there since February 2008. The studio served us well for 2 years and we are now looking forward to a new venture at Greenseed Studios, an art and tattoo studio conveniently located across from the ZSpot Coffee Shop on Indiana Ave as well as a revived partnership with Marci Tousey at the YogaLoft on Michigan Ave. Let our new chapter begin! Jessica Warren, Inspire Yoga Apprentice and colleague Elise Cantrell of Shining Lotus, LLC join us in our new venture as well. Check out Jessica's original testimonials in our grand opening press article below that led her to becoming the Inspire Yoga Apprentice! We are so fortunate to have her enthusiasm and wisdom.
Greenseed Studios has offered us a fresh perspective and even more increased energy! What a beautiful artspace artists Zack Pattison and Steve Bossler have created. Inspire Yoga is so fortunate to collaborate with these local artists. Included at Greenseed is a new and improved sound system where classes are often taught inspired by soothing music or upbeat global beats.
My next teaching training will be the Anusara Level 2 training with certified teachers Amy Ippoliti and Ross Rayburn in October of 2010. I look forward to continuing to expand my depth of teaching of the Anusara method for years to come!
