Welcome to Sheboygan's Inspire Yoga. We hope to make you feel comfortable and welcome as you begin your yoga journey.
Many people say they are intimidated to try yoga. Or they are not flexible enough to do yoga. I believe often it is because they see an incredibly flexible, thin advanced yoga practitioner on the cover of a magazine doing unbelievably challenging things with their bodies that took years to master and practice. Unless you happen to be that model, that's not your yoga practice!
Beginner students should know that yoga is about you and your capabilities. Whether you are a high level athlete, a person struggling with weight issues, someone with an injury, or a 5 year old, your yoga practice should first and foremost make you feel better about yourself while challenging you to improve and enhance the way you look and feel.
I often joke that "we are flexible in yoga" meaning, your yoga practice often adapts to and is flexible within your personal capabilities and belief system. Although there are some universal qualities and principles to consider, as they say in the Anusara philosophy regarding what you do in your practice "it depends!".
My yoga teacher John Friend, developer of the worldwide Anusara yoga, says that ATTITUDE is the first and foremost element that one needs for yoga. So come with the desire to learn and grow and lots of patience, and the rest will come! Namaste, Rachael
